The Northern part of Cyprus is often known as Famagusta or the north of Cyprus. There is part of the North of Cyprus known as the ghost town, it is no mans land since the invasion and neither North Cyprus or Southern Cyprus have access to it.
However there are many areas in the North of Cyprus. One of those areas is Kyrinia.
Kyrinia is a pretty area, based around a harbour where you can find restaurants and bars and lots of historic buildings.
Many companies offer excursions to the North of the island as driving a hired car is recommended for insurance purposes. You can also go to Kyrinia with a taxi which makes for an interesting day out. You can see the ghost town of Famagusta, the bombed hotels and beautiful beaches and learn a lot about the history of Cyprus as an island before and after the invasion.
