Cyprus is the island with sparkling blue seas and perfect golden beaches. In 1995 the Cyprus tourist organisation along with the Cyprus Marine protection association were first introduced to the blue flag award scheme. The blue flag award scheme has 27 regulations that countries must follow in order to have a blue flag award. The obvious rule is saftety and clean and tidy bathing areas and swimming areas. Back when the scheme first began, there were only 11 beaches to be awarded the blue flag in 1996... now an astonishing 59 beaches in Cyprus have been awarded the blue flag award, these can be found between Kapparis and Protaras, going along the coast line to Larnaca, then along to Limasol and from there towards Paphos itself.

The cyprus beaches are great for holiday or long term living as they have many things to offer, such as water sports facilities, perfect scuba diving areas, golden sandy beaches, toilet and shower facilities and most importantly crystal clear waters. Some of the beaches with the blue flag awards are listed bellow for reference.

Many grew up on Protaras beach, it stretches for miles; when you look out all you can see is sand and sea and the palm trees... plus families with children, couples wandering the shore line with flip flops in the one hand and hand in hand with the other. It is strange how Cyprus has a way of bringing out the calmness in people from young to old, time drifts by and doesnt matter if its 2am or 9pm... it is a living game, just live each moment!!!
